Understanding the Clean Beauty Movement

The clean beauty movement has become loud and clear that what we put on our skin matters just as much as what we put in our bodies. And guess what? People are taking notice, big time.

It's all about choosing products that are safer, kinder to the planet, and just all-around better for us. But here's the thing. Not every brand is walking the walk, despite talking the talk. So, consumers are demanding transparency and calling out brands who are just using this as a marketing tactic.

Why settle for anything less than quality and responsible, right?

What is The Clean Beauty Movement?

It’s first important to understand this movement before we decide to get involved and have a say in the matter. What is clean beauty and why does it matter? Simply put, it is the collective movement of consumers and brands that are choosing natural and sustainable quality cosmetic and skincare products.

Embracing a Clean Beauty Routine:

Transitioning to a clean beauty routine involves several simple steps that you can incorporate daily.

Step 1: Assess Your Current Skincare Products:

Start by taking inventory of your current skincare products. Go through what you have and try observing and going through its ingredient lists identifying any synthetic or potentially harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances that you may want to avoid. These main three ingredients are chemicals that can irritate, rather than nurture your skin.

Step 2: Do your Research on Natural Alternatives:

We have a lot to ask and a lot to learn. Picking up your laptop or reading a book to do your own research about natural alternatives is a great way to start your transition. Knowing what organic ingredients to look for and learning transparent sourcing and manufacturing processes, not only enlightens you but educates us as consumers to also be responsible with the products we buy.

Step 3: Start with a Gradual Transition:

Slowly but surely, is an old wise tip that we’ve heard a lot of times, but true. Introduce natural products one by one, giving your skin time to adjust. Keep an eye on any changes, or allergic reactions, and only switch out essential skincare items first, like your cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen moving to natural cosmetics like foundation, powder, lipstick, and so on. Make sure they work for you.

Step 4: Simplify & Own Your Routine:

The beauty of applying cosmetics and skincare is that it’s yours! Everyone has a unique skin type and with that comes different needs. simplify your routine by narrowing it down to fewer products packed with premium ingredients. Choose your skincare regimen that serves your specific skin concerns and goals. Make it simple and make it yours.

By taking the time to educate yourself and make informed choices, you can create a clean beauty routine that supports your health and values. Together, we can advocate for a safer, more transparent beauty industry for all.
