How To Use Setting Powder
Want to make the most out of your makeup look and make it last all day? Setting powder is the secret.
You all know the feeling when you get home from work or evening out with your girls and you notice that half of your makeup had rubbed off, probably hours ago. Your concealer and foundation have creased, the eyeshadow is smudged under your eyes, and lipstick is pretty much non-existent at this point….
If this is you way too often, it’s time to rethink your stance on setting powder — especially if you think that setting powder is reserved for big events only. Personally, I can’t imagine my makeup bag without it! Dusting on a setting powder once you finish applying your makeup is a fantastic way to really lock in your makeup and make it last longer. Not only that, it’ll also give your face that fabulous matte finish and smooth out fine lines for a more dramatic effect, even on a simple, everyday look. And because the powder is translucent, it acts as an invisible barrier that protects but doesn’t disturb other products you applied underneath it, so you don’t have to worry about re-applying anything after dusting on the setting powder.
Just wait until you try it for yourself — you’ll probably regret not using it sooner! And if you’re not sure how to apply the setting powder the right way, stay with us to learn how to use it like a pro.
How To Apply Setting Powder
The Lava Art Perfect Stay Finishing Powder is free from nasties, made with love with natural ingredients, and wasn’t tested on animals. It comes in a handy compact size and can be used on any skin type. You can use whatever tool you’d like, but we recommend either a beauty blender or a Kabuki brush.
Step 1.
If you’re using a beauty blender: Carefully dab the beauty blender in the finishing powder. Remove the excess powder and apply it by gently dabbing it on areas you want to lock-in. For example, if you have oily skin, you may only want to cover the most problematic areas, such as the forehead, nose, and chin.
If you’re using a brush: Gently dip your brush in the finishing powder. Shake off excess powder and gently apply it to your skin in circular motions. Pro tip: Don’t feel like you have to use foundation before applying a setting powder — if you’re only looking for that glam matte effect, feel free to use it alone!
Step 2.
Begin applying the powder from your nose and work your way out. Remember to press onto skin, not just feather it as this will leave a lot of powder on your face. The key to perfect finish is blending it well onto the makeup you’ve already applied rather than overdoing it or else, you’ll end up with a thick and cakey-looking face!
Step 3.
Keep blending until the powder becomes invisible to the eye. You’ll know you’ve applied it the correct way when it makes your skin look even and smooth, leaving that beautiful silky matt finish.
